Grenadine Syrup by PlotaParty
Grenadine is a pomegranate flavored syrup. It is sweet with a slightly sour taste and has a lovely color. This is used a lot in Middle Eastern cooking and is an interesting alternative to Tamarind Chutney. You can use this for desserts, drinks and dips.
- 2 cups pomegranate juice
- ¾ cup sugar
Combine the juice and sugar and bring to a boil, uncovered, over medium heat, keeping a watch so that it doesn’t boil over.
Simmer gently until the syrup has reduced to one and a half cups. Keep a watch on the consistency as it will thicken as it cools.
It should be stored in a sterilized glass bottle and kept in a refrigerator.
